Report On C-E Translation Of Analysis And Forecast Of China’s Economy(2017)

The paper is a project report on C-E translation of Analysis and Forecast of China’s Economy(2017),or Blue Book of China’s Economy(2017),published by the Chinese Academy of Science.The blue book is a government report on economic analysis and forecast,which is an annual report on economic analysis and studies based on the economic performance of the year 2016 and the forecast of the trend of economic development for the year 2017.The source text is the first section of the blue book,which is a general analysis and forecast of China’s economy in 2017.Concerning its function,the source text can be classified as a text of the practical writing style,different from the literary style that is more often used to convey affective meaning and aesthetic meaning,and its main function is to deliver economic information to the public,thus providing reference for related sectors to making economic decisions and,for enterprises,to strengthening corporate administration,expanding business,and facilitating market competitiveness,etc.This paper has discussed the features of the source text: abundant use of specialized terminology,long sentences with complex structures,and expressions describing trends or status quo of economy manifested mainly through the use of verbs(verb phrases),nouns(noun phrases),adjectives and adverbs(adjective and adverbial phrases)in large numbers.In consideration of all the analysis,the fundamental principle of the translation is faithfulness and coherence.Besides,the writing style of the source text should also be maintained in the target text,so as to achieve functional and semantic equivalence.Following that,this paper has presented case analysis and summarized some effective translation techniques accordingly.This translation report is made up of five chapters.Chapter 1 is an introduction and Chapter 2 is the task description which introduces the background,requirements and significance of the task.Chapter 3 describes the translation process,including preparation,translation and revision,and Chapter 4 is analysis of the linguistic features of the source text,case studies,as well as translation techniques accordingly from the angles of word and sentence.Chapter 5 is the conclusion that summarizes the translation practice and points out some problems to be resolved.Through abundant and specific case analysis,the paper is expected to provide references for further translation practices of texts on economics,finance or commerce and facilitate the international communication in the economic sector.
