As an important part of social appellation,the appellation that indicates the occupation,the position and the identity of the person in social relations plays an important role in speech communication,but at present there is no unified expression of this kind of appellation.The analysis of symmetric predicate semantic motivation can help us to better understand and apply,and the research of symmetric predicate semantic motivation is lacking.The theory of physical structure mainly includes semantic knowledge of functional role,formal role,giving role and forming role.These four roles embody the Encyclopaedia knowledge of noun reference entity,which is a breakthrough in the scope and depth of noun word description,which greatly enriches the connotation of noun meaning.Up to now,there have been few studies on Chinese by using the knowledge of physical property theory.Therefore,it is a useful attempt to analyze the semantic motivation of the appellation that represents one’s job status by using the theory of physical structure,which not only helps to deepen the understanding of Chinese appellation,but also shows the feasibility and convenience of the theory of physical structure in the analysis of Chinese semantic motivation.Based on the seventh edition of the modern Chinese dictionary,this paper establishes a corpus of functional identities in modern Chinese,and analyses the semantic motivation of functional identities from the four semantic aspects of physical structure by combining quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis.It is found that the semantic motivation of the functional identity words not only have function role,form role,form role and form role,but also have two or three semantic roles.Moreover,the choice of semantic roles in the job status word has different tendentious,the number of formal roles is the most,the number of functional roles is the second,the number of implementing roles is less,the lack of constituting roles.Based on the analysis of the semantic motivation of functional identities,we can also find out the unique cultural characteristics of functional identities,as well as the "official standard" of traditional culture and the principles of politeness and humility.The title is divided into six chapters:The first chapter introduces the origin of this paper,the current research status of the word of job status,the research theory and method,and the research purpose and significance.The second chapter introduces the concept and the definition of the functional identity word,including the origin and establishment of the corpus.The third chapter,based on corpus,analyses the semantic motivation of job identity words by using the theory of physical structure.This paper classifies the semantic motivation of the functional identity words from five angles: functional role,formal role,giving role,forming role and multiple roles.The fourth chapter explains the selection tendency of the word meaning motivation of the functional identity words in different physical characters.In order to highlight the social function or the main function of the social role,the job and job types in the social life are limited.Therefore,some characters of different dimensions are needed to distinguish them,which leads to the most important part of the semantic motivation of the job.The fifth chapter: through analyzing the motivation of word meaning,we find that the word has its own unique cultural characteristics,distinct age,strong emotional tendentious,strong plasticity,moderate virtuality.These cultural characteristics are deeply influenced by the official standard in Chinese traditional culture and conform to the principles of polite and humble language communication.The sixth chapter summarizes the main studies and conclusions of this thesis,and points out the shortcomings and possible follow-up studies.
