With the development of education,there is an improving plan of special education,which has drawn much more attention to and drummed more support for special education in China.As a part of special education,education of children with hearing impairment must be pushed forward.Although it’s a long history of education of children with hearing impairment in our country,due to the physical obstacles,it’s difficult for these children to learn Chinese language in special education school.Especially,it’s hard for them to learn English language.Nowadays we are still lack of experience of teaching and at present we haven’t a independent construction of English education system.In particular,English teaching materials can not meet the needs of students with hearing impairment,because,there is no suitable teaching materials developed for these students,and most of the special education schools use English teaching materials for full-time ordinary schools.From the perspective of teaching practice,the special education teachers have put forward a lot of advice and mixed evaluation about these English teaching materials.So,it’s necessary to evaluate the English teaching materials for students with hearing impairment comprehensively,and then give useful advice for developing and using the English materials.This essay mainly studies on these three questions:At present,what is the universal problem of use of the English textbook in special education school?Whether can the textbook meet the need of English learning for the hearing impaired students,who has special physical and mental characteristics?At last,according to the conclusion of survey,what questions should be paid attention to in the preparation or use of English textbook in special education school?According to the school teaching practice and the physical characteristics and mental characteristics of students with hearing impairment,this paper comprehensively analyses the domestic and foreign literature on English teaching materials of the special education school,and evaluates textbooks for students of seventh grade Go for it!through interviews and questionnaire,and draws a conclusion,which is based on the evaluation criteria of primary and secondary school textbooks,the methods of English teaching and the principles of the integration of English teaching materials in schools for the students with hearing impairment.Now in mostly special education schools,there are a lot of teaching experience,but no promotion and inheritance.At present,English education in deaf school is exam-oriented education,but not the education for cultivation of students’ language ability.In deaf school,there is no English textbooks for students,so they have to use textbooks for healthy students.For these special students,textbooks get a large capacity,hard grammar,difficult activities and test in each unit.And the topic is boring to these students.In one word,the textbooks of healthy students is unsuitable to students with hearing impairment.Therefore,it’s important to adapt English textbooks in consideration of characteristics of the special students with hearing impairment.It’s the way to improve the English education in special education school and the ability of English language of students.
