Research On Work-family Conflict Among The Project Seafarers Of Offshore Oil Engineering Company

As the reserves of China’s terrestrial oil decline and the difficulty of extraction increases,the exploration and development of offshore petroleum resources has become a new national strategy.The increase in offshore engineering projects has increased the time for seafarers to work offshore.The communicate time between these seafarers and their families has gradually narrowed,and the problem of work-family conflict has gradually become exposed,making this special work-type group work-family conflict problem research is valued.This study combines the results of previous researches on work-family conflicts,and uses questionnaires and interviews to collect data samples from the project’s seafarers of an offshore engineering company.Through the analysis of the questionnaire data samples,finds that the project’s seafarers of this company are mainly young people and the level of work-family conflict increases first and then decreases with the increase of seafarers’ age.The only-child seafarers’ work-family conflict level is higher than that of the non-only-child seafarers.The work-family conflict is more likely happened between the lower education seafarers.In general,the seafarers’ work interference with family level is higher than family interference with work level.Through further practical exploration,after summarizing and scoring the various influencing factors,the three factors that affect the work-family conflict are finally obtained,namely employee characteristics,including active personality,work satisfaction and career development;family characteristics,including family structure atmosphere,family cognitive atmosphere and family relationship atmosphere;team atmosphere factors,including team participation,team effectiveness and team cohesion.After empirical research on the factors affecting work-family conflicts,it is found that among the influencing factors,active personality,career development,family structure atmosphere,family cognitive atmosphere,family relationship atmosphere,team participation and team effectiveness are all significantly correlated with work-family conflict.Finally,countermeasures and recommendations for reducing work-family conflict levels are proposed for influential factors with significant effects.In the past,the research of work-family conflict on the specific group of seafarers working in the offshore engineering industry was not enough.This research hopes to make up for the research gap in this field,and hopes to provide advices for this offshore oil engineering company and other similar companies to manage the project seafarers in the future.
