Both China and ASEAN are important emerging economies in the world,and they are important trade partners for each other,bilateral economic and trade ties are very close since 2000.In November 2002,China and ASEAN signed "China ASEAN Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation",formally started the “China-ASEAN Free Trade Area “(CAFTA)’s negotiations and construction,the bilateral trade has entered a "fast lane".In October 2003,China and ASEAN countries signed “Joint Declaration on China ASEAN strategic partnership for peace and prosperity”,and became the starting point of "golden ten years" of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.In January 2010,CAFTA was officially established,and was the first FTA established by China and other countries.During this period,China became ASEAN’s largest trading partner and the fourth major source of foreign investment,and ASEAN has become China’s third major trading partner and the third major source of foreign investment in the third.In recent years,China and ASEAN are deepening bilateral cooperation furtherly.In October 2013,President Xi Jinping firstly proposed that China is willing to build the “twenty-first Century Maritime Silk Road “with ASEAN,during his visit to Indonesia,and received a positive response from ASEAN countries;in November 2015,China and ASEAN formally signed CAFTA upgrade protocol.Therefore,the economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN has an important influence on the growth of China’s foreign trade and even the development of national economy.At present,the global economic situation is still severe,still faces many uncertainties,recovery difficult,the main importing countries’ market demand are still sluggish,such as the US and Europe,China and ASEAN,which both are export oriented economy,face many structural problems in economic development,so as to focus on adjusting the industrial structure,promote economic restructuring and development.In this context,industrial cooperation will play an important role in the economic cooperation between China and ASEAN.In view of this,starting from the perspective of foreign trade,the study of that the industrial complementation and competitiveness China and ASEAN has very important practical significance,and that conducive to China adjust the industrial structure through regional economic cooperation,but also provides a reference value for the further deepen industrial cooperation between China and ASEAN.This paper firstly describes the background and significance of the research,research content and technical route,research methods and feasibility analysis,as well as the main innovation points and deficiencies.The second chapter is the literature review,reviews and comments on research results about trade problems of China-ASEAN of the domestic and foreign,including the trade research of China-ASEAN,the research on intra-industry trade between China and ASEAN,the research of competitiveness and complementarity of agricultural products trade between China and ASEAN,and brief summary.The third chapter is the basic situation of the trade development of China and ASEAN,including the basic situation of China’s foreign trade,the general situation of ASEAN’s foreign trade,and bilateral trade situation between China and ASEAN.The fourth chapter is the analysis of industrial competitiveness of China and ASEAN,that uses preliminary competitive analysis,export similarity index analysis,trade competition index analysis for China with ASEAN,Singapore,MTIP country group(Malaysia,Thailand,Indonesia,Philippines),VLMC country group(Vietnam,Laos,Myanmar,Cambodia),including agricultural food products,electromechanical instrument products,mine and metal products,textile and clothing products,rubber and leather products,toy and furniture products,wood and paper products.The fifth chapter is the analysis of industrial complementarity of the seven industries of China and ASEAN by preliminary analysis,TCI analysis,and intra industry trade index analysis The sixth chapter is the summary and policy recommendations.The main conclusions are as follows: 1)there is a strong competitiveness between China and ASEAN in the fields of electromechanical instrument products,textile and clothing products,rubber and leather products,and toy and furniture products,that are capital-intensive,technology-intensive and labor-intensive industries,and there is a week competitiveness between China and ASEAN in the fields of agricultural food product,mine and metal products,and wood and paper products,that are resource-intensive industries.There is a strong complementarity between China and ASEAN in the fields of electromechanical instrument products,textile and clothing products,rubber and leather products,and wood and paper products,and there is a week competitiveness between China and ASEAN in the fields of agricultural food product,mine and metal products,and toy and furniture products;2)there is a strong competitiveness between China and Singapore in the fields of electromechanical instrument products,textile and clothing products and rubber and leather products,and is a strong complementarity in the fields of electromechanical instrument products,mine and metal products and rubber and leather products;3)there is a strong competitiveness between China and MTIP country group in the fields of electromechanical instrument products,textile and clothing products,rubber and leather products,toy and furniture products and wood and paper products,and is a strong complementarity in the fields of agricultural food products,electromechanical instrument products,textile and clothing products,rubber and leather products,and wood and paper products;4)there is a strong competitiveness between China and VLMC country group in the fields of agricultural food products,electromechanical instrument products,textile and clothing products,rubber and leather products,and toy and furniture products,and is a strong complementarity in the fields of agricultural food products,electromechanical instrument products,textile and clothing products,rubber and leather products,and wood and paper products;5)China and ASEAN’s competitiveness and complementarity situations are similar to China and MTIP country group’s,which means the whole ASEAN’s industrial structure is similar to MTIP country group;6)intra industry trade has become the main form of bilateral trade between China and ASEAN.Finally,this paper gives the policies’ suggestion from three aspects: firstly,promoting infrastructure interoperability,enhancing trade facilitation cooperation,promoting regional economic integration;secondly,clearing the relationship of Competitiveness and Complementarity of seven industries,deepening industrial cooperation and establishing regional production network;thirdly,increasing R&D investment,strengthening independent innovation,improving the international competitiveness of industries.
