It has been a long long time since the talk of lacquer between the China and the Japan.It can be divided into three periods according to the relationship between the China and the Japan,especially following the time axis of the China.The first period started from Han Dynasty to Song Dynasty and in this time the Japan was studying the Chinese lacquer methods in most cases.So we called that the China is the teacher of the Japan.The second period was at Yuan and Ming Dynasties in which the development of Chinese lacquer was not as flourishing as before while still kept somewhat top techniques,such as plain lacquerware,carved lacquerware,mother-of-pearl inlay.In the base of Chinese lacquer,the lacquerware of Japan was moving towards maturity and gradually arose unique features.In the case of this,Chinese even specially came to the Japan to study the new things and made the feeling that how exquisite the lacquerware was which was sold from the Japan.In this time,the China and the Japan were studying from each other.In the last period which was during from Ming and Qing Dynasties to modern times,while the Chinese lacquerware developed singly compared with before,the Japanese lacquerware had cut a striking figure in the word by means of Paris Expo whose techniques were totally beyond the China's,which led to the new status,the China was the student.During the talk and development on lacquer between the China and the Japan,the role that the Japan played of was from a learner to a teacher.After World War II,the Japan took actions to protect traditional handicraft.From these,we Chinese lacquerware protection should pay more attention.On the one hand,we should make more communication about lacquer.On the other hand,it's quite urgent to make and improve rules,safeguards.It's quite urgent to support the development of handicrafts.It's also quite urgent to carry the lacquer techniques for traditional handicraft.
