| Huang Pei,was an influential officer in royal court in the late Ming dynasty,the typical adherent in the period of regime transition of Ming and Qing Dynasties.He was also a key member of Huang family in Qingdao Jimo City.He had been educated in his Family Academy since he was a child.Until he was sixteen,he was promoted as the Guard commander.He was an officer of honesty and integrity.After the fall of the Ming Dynasty,he refused to be an official and used his pen as a sword,devoting himself to poetry-writing.Due to his Hanzhangguan shiji(that is,Hanzhang House Poetry Collection)contained implicit contents of anti-Qing government,he was involved into the largest case of literary inquisition in North China in the early Qing Dynasty.During the trial of literary inquisition,Huang Pei took all the blame for his death in order to preserve the rest of his family member.He was not afraid of death,talking cheerfully and leisurely before executing.Based on previous studies,the paper aims to conduct an intensive and profound research and investigation on Huang Pei’s life,interpersonal relations and the whole story of the case of literary inquisition.Thus,the paper can be divided into five chapters:Chapter one is a general introduction to Huang family,his family literary background,family instruction and four main representatives of Huang family.The reason that Huang family’s member could be good officials for generations and smooth in their career in the Ming court was greatly benefited from their deep family education and family instruction.It can be summarized as three aspects,namely,the family tradition of literary education;the official principles of integrity and honesty and the behaving style of benevolent and generosity.Section two selects and introduces two representatives from Huang Zuofu and Huang Zuosheng family branches.Chapter two focuses on Huang Pei’s biography and interpersonal relations.In Section One,we divided Huang pei’s biography into three phases: Before an officer,to be an officer,after retirement from official position,and we give a general introduction to Huang’s characters and deeds in these stages of his life.Section Two will divide Huang Pei’sinterpersonal communication into three parts: The association with the court officials,the association with adherents of the Ming Dynasty and the acquaintance with the hermits.In this section,we will try to classify and give a clear order to those men who had direct and indirect links with Huang Pei in the historical data.Chapter Three is main body of the paper,and we will give a detailed and careful study on Huang Pei’s case of the literary inquisition: the reasons for cruel literary inquisition in the early Qing Dynasty,the process and development of Huang Pei’s literary inquisition,the outcome and impact of the literary inquisition.Section One will summarize the reasons for cruel literary inquisition in the early Qing Dynasty;Section two will conduct a deep analysis on the cause,process,outcome and influence of Huang Pei’s case of literary inquisition from various perspectives,namely,the men involved,ins and outs of the case,the investigation of Huang Pei’s imprisonment in Jinan,the process of trial,research and identification of the truth to the case.Chapter Four will mainly focus on the artistic style and genre analysis on his masterpiece,Hanzhangguan Shiji,(that is,the Hanzhang House poems Collection).Section One classifies Huang Pei’s poems into five main themes,selects and gives deep analysis to several typically representative poems.Section Two makes a brief analysis to the artistic characteristics of Huang Pei’s poetry from two perspectives,that is,following the Tang legacy and imitating Du Fu’s poetry style.Chapter Five attempts to do the research on Zhangshi Shishe,(that is,Zhang Stone of Poetry Society,)with emphasis on Zhang Stone Poetry Society’s main activities arena and the key participants.Section One will investigate Zhang Stone Poetry Society’s main activities arena from Huang Pei’s poetry and other historical records.Section Two will track the key participants from Huang Pei and his other friends’ poetry. |
