In the background of eliminating the different surname princes and establishing the same surname, the Liu princes of Chu was founded in Western Han Dynasty. The Liu princes of Chu lived from the very begaining of the Western Han Dynasty until it was replaced by Xinmang.During this period,There are two different Liu princes of Chu exsited.One belongs to Chu-yuan Wang-Liu Jiao, another belongs to Chu-xiao Wang-Liu Xiao. Both of the two princes played an important role in the history of the Western Han Dynasty.This article is mainly based on the published literature unearthed (especially by seals and lute unerthed in Shi-zi mountain Tomb and Bei-dong mountain Tomb),archaeological material and masterpieces of literature. The Article consisted four parts were special study of the Liu princes of Chu in the Western Han Dynasty. These topics include the national overview of the Liu princes of Chu, military system of the Liu princes of Chu, burial system of the Liu princes of Chu, culture and arts of the Liu princes of Chu.The first section briefly describes its origin, descent, territorial changes, population and natural environment:the second part concentrate on the types of their soldiers, the military tactics and the military rights; The third part focus on the funeral expenses system of the Liu princes of Chu; The last part focuses on the characteristics of their culture and the arts, The spiritual content of local culture. Its purpose is to find the significance of the Liu princes of Chu in the Western Han Dynasty who created the regional culture.
