In this thesis,self-assembly of naphthalene-1,5-disulfonic acid(1,5-H2NDS),4,4’-dihydroxybiphenyl-3,3’-disulfonic acid(H4M1),bisphenol S disulfonic acid(H4M2),five flexible bis(pyridyl)amine ligands and cadmium salts leads to the formation of 14 Cd(II)-arenesulfonate crystalline compounds with diverse OD,1D,2D and 3D topologies, which were characterized by elemental analyses,IR,TG,PL,powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction.Structure analyses indicate that the variation of the rigidity-flexibility,length and spatial configuration of sulfonate ligands and the introduction of hydroxyl group in the ortho position of-SO3 can not only enrich the coordination mode of sulfonate ligands but also expand the single metal node into Cd2O2 cluster. Both the changes are in favor of the formation of compounds with novel topologies or porous structures. The conformations and dihedral angles of the flexible bis(pyridyl)amine ligands also play important role in determining the dimension and the final topologies of compounds.Meanwhile, the introduction of flexible bis(pyridyl)amine ligands is helpful to enhance the coordination ability of sulfonate ligands, and then form 44,hcb layers and 4-,5-,6-connected 3D cds, nov, pcu topological networks, and show stronger capability to form C/N-H.…π and π…π interactions, which then provide additional driving force for regulating the formation of three-dimensional crystalline networks. In addition, some of the Cd(II)-based crystalline compounds exhibit excellent luminescent emission at solid-state room temperature.
