Integrated circuit technology has been widely developed and applied in wireless communication system,and the miniaturization of integrated circuit has attracted lots of attention.Transmission line is one of the most important component in integrated circuit,the transmission line is used as the inter-connection in integrated component.Various kinds of transmission line has been invented and applied to the design of integrated circuit.One of novel artificial synthetic transmission line,which is also called complementary-conduction-strip transmission line(CCS TL),has been applied to integrated circuit.The synthetic transmission line also has open structure,which is the same as conventional microstrip line.So the leaky-wave phenomenon of synthetic transmission line is also an important factor in integrated circuit.First of all,the structure parameters of the synthetic transmission line has been introduced.Then a hybrid full-wave and generalized scattering matrix method has been introduced to analysis the multi-port periodical synthetic transmission line.In order to validate the numerical method,a 400 GHz 0.13 ?m 1P8 M CMOS synthetic transmission line has been designed and fabricated.Marchand balun is a component to realize the transmission of single-end to differential output.The characteristics of CCS coupled-line has been explored and the design process of Marchand balun has been introduced.Then two kinds of 400 GHz leaky-mode antennas have been designed: a synthetic transmission line leaky-mode antenna with perforated ground plane,and a synthetic transmission line leaky-mode with uniform ground plane.The simulated result could be obtained by electromagnetic soft-ware HFSS.The leaky-mode antennas are fabricated by 0.13 ?m 1P8 M CMOS process,the theoretical,simulated and measured results have good agreement.Compared with other millimeter-wave monolithic antennas,the leaky-mode antenna introduced in this paper have good performance.At 400 GHz,the gain of the synthetic transmission line leaky-mode antenna with perforated ground plane is 1.3dBi.And the leaky-mode antenna could realize beam-scanning characteristics from390 GHz to 405 GHz.
