With the development of optical fiber technology,the optical fibers have significant potential applications for the field of sensors due to their simple structure,small size,anti-electromagnetic interference and as on.And meanwhile,with the advent of photonic crystal fiber,fiber optic sensing technology has a qualitative leap.Surface plasmon resonance technology is widely used in the detection of the refractive index of organic solution with its high sensitivity and real-time measurement.In this thesis,a kind of D-shape dual-core photonic crystal fiber refraction index sensor is proposed based on surface plasmon resonance technology,and make a deep theoretical and experimental research for it.The main contents are listed below:Firstly,the development statuses of the optical fiber sensing technology and surface plasmon resonance technology are briefly introduced.The application of surface plasmon resonance technology in optical fiber sensing is discussed.The types and characteristics of existing fiber surface plasmon resonance sensors are introduced.Secondly,the theory of optical fiber refractive index sensor is described in detail.The design scheme of refractive index sensor based on D-shape dual-core photonic crystal fiber is proposed and simulated and analyzed theoretically based on the full vectorial finite element method.Thirdly,the preparation process of the proposed fiber refractive index sensor is described in detail.A kind of fiber polishing machine is designed to complete the processing of D-shape fiber.And the hardware circuit and control software of the polishing machine are also designed.Finally,the experiment is designed based on the simulation results,and the refractive index sensing performance of the proposed sensor is verified experimentally.The experimental results and the existing problems are analyzed and summarized.The surface plasmon resonance refractive index sensor based on dual-core photonic crystal fiber has the advantages of simple structure,easy manufacturing and high sensitivity in this thesis,which can realize real-time measurement.This is significant to promote the practical application of surface plasmon resonance technology.
