The Analysis Of Causes And Effect Of Social Media Dependence

With the rapid development of mobile Internet technology and the rapid spread of smart phones,nowadays,social media plays a very important role,it becomes parts of our life.But the connection through the social media such as the We Chat does not make us more connected,on the contrary,we indulge in online communication,while ignoring each other in real life.The author try to understand college students' usage of We Chat through the literature analysis,interviews with college students,and found that college students rely on We Chat is gradually deepening,the alienation that social media effect on people has become an indisputable fact.The author starts from the two perspectives of "use and satisfaction theory" and "media dependence theory" to explore the reasons why college students depend on social media.First,We Chat satisfies college students' practical needs of information access,interpersonal maintenance and expansion,self-expression and recognition,entertainment and recreation;Second,We Chat can easily make up for loss of belonging,ease the sense of loneliness,to meet students' psychological needs;Third,We Chat with its inherent media advantages,has become the main channel of social news release,for example,government,school,companies and even individuals regard We Chat as their main channel to publish information,which alsocatalyzes the students' dependence of We Chat.In the end,the author starts from the Marxist alienation theory,analyzes the disadvantages of social media,such as the alienation of social media,instrumentalization ofcommunication ways,and the problem that online relations become more intimate,offline relations become increasingly alienated.To find and explore the social media on human alienation,is to digest the alienation,and ultimately make people out of this alienated state.The author believe that to digest alienation,we can start from three aspects: to expand the online relationship to real life,to strengthen the audience's media literacy and to strengthen the norms of social media.So that people can make better use of social media.And at last making the social media achieve its original intention-to enhance communication between people.
