Electromagnetic pulse is a transient electromagnetic phenomenon, from the time domain, with a steep rise edge, from the frequency domain, covering a wider frequency band. It can make a variety of electronic equipment, electrical equipment failure or damage.Develop a high-performance nanosecond pulse generator, the electromagnetic pulse and its engineering protection is of great significance and application value.Based on the transmission line theory, the circuit of charge line pulse generator is designed. Use Multisim simulation software to analyze the charge line pulse generator circuit, the results show that the pulse waveform is oscillating when the load does not match. The larger the stray inductance is, the more obvious the oscillation is. The correction capacitor can raise the rising edge of the pulse. The distribution parameter of the switch causes the wavefonn oscillate.In order to achieve the adjustable pulse width, the different charge lines with the high voltage connector are designed and manufactured, by replacing the charge line,a generator can output multiple pulse widths. On the basis of comparative analysis,the vacuum relay is selected as the charge and discharge switch, the two switch parallel structure is used to enlarge the rated current, meet the requirement of the maximum output current.Output waveform oscillation, insulation breakdown, environmental interference and so on, use measures such as reducing stray inductance, insulation handling,shielding. The output waveform is improved, and the performance of the pulse generator meets the requirements of the development, the parameters to meet the maximum charging voltage of 25kV, the maximum output voltage of 12.5kV, bipolar,adjustable amplitude, pulse width adjustable, The rising time is within 5 nanoseconds.Perform electromagnetic pulse protection test, The results show that the performance of the pulse source is stable and can be applied to electromagnetic pulse engineering protection test.
