As we all know that surface plasmon polaritons(SPPs)are electromagnetic waves which can break the diffraction limit and realize the localized field enhancement on nano scale because of its particular optical characteristics.As a result,the research of SPPs has great significance on all optical network,especially on optical devices.In this paper,on the basis of the features of SPPs,we studied the transmission characteristics of different resonator structures.And then we put forward a novel SPPs pressure sensor,which has made certain progress on the size and sensitivity.The main research works are as follows:(1)We choosed metal-insulator-metal(MIM)structure from all the optical waveguides to discuss the transmission characteristics of SPPs,and then proposed a new resonator consist of several rings on the basis of signal ring and double rings resonators.We discussed the application of the resonator in stop-band filter.(2)In this paper,we designed an H-shaped resonator based on MIM waveguide.According to the reflectance spectra and the contour profiles of field,we discussed the influences of the structure parameters,and we got the modified H-shaped resonator which has a better performance.(3)According to the Slater's Law,we assumed that a pressure is applied on the top of the resonator and there must have a deformation on the structure.As a result,we studied the variation of the reflectance spectra,and discovered that the structure can act as a pressure sensor.(4)On the basis of related deformation theories of silver,we calculated the relations between the deformation and reflectance and the wavelength shift.Finally,the function between the pressure and the wavelength shift was obtained.That is,we completed the analysis of a pressure sensor.In conclusion,we explored the resonator and pressure sensor based on SPPs and MIM waveguide.All the works provided a novel way for the future research of optical pressure sensor and other nano scale optical divices.
