Surface Plasmon Polaritons can gather electromagnetic energy within the certain range and has a strong local-field enhancement effect,so it can break through the diffraction limit. And the size of the optical device could reach nanometer magnitude. It will achieve nano-optoelectronic integration to promote the development of science and technology into the new period. Optical waveguide is not only the important part of the photonic circuit but also the core of the research of optoelectronic integration. This paper studies the mode properties of the metallic nanostructure waveguides, calculates the mode area, the propagation length. In chapter 1, it is introduced the relevant background, the basic concepts and the research significance. In chapter 2, it is introduced the good qualities of the hybrid plasmonic waveguide which can simultaneously achieve subwavelength confinement and the long-range propagation. In chapter 3, it is proposed a series of modified hybrid plasmonic waveguides based on hybrid plasmonic waveguide. The optical properties can be adjusted by altering the geometrical structure of the waveguides. In chapter 4, it is proposed a series of metallic nanowire-type with substrates plasmonic waveguides. And it studies the mode properties, calculates the mode area, the propagation length and the optical forces in the waveguides and so on. In chapter 6, the summary and the prospects of our work are discussed.
