As the development of the modern electronic information technology and the massive need of all kinds of Consumer Electronics, the Digital Signal Processor(DSP) is developing towards higher performance and more complex multi-core architecture. Along with the continously improving integration level of DSP chip, the demand of reset and boot control function for DSP is more and more diversified.This paper designs the reset and boot control unit based on the research of a multi-core X-DSP chip. The unit can guarantee the DSP to realize complex reset and boot control functions. The main work of this paper is as follows:1. Analyzing and researching the characteristics and performance requirements of the multi-core X-DSP. Through the analysis and research, this paper designs the overall architecture of the X-DSP's reset and boot control unit, as well as the architecture of the reset control module and the boot control module.2. To ensure the correctness of reset signals' transmission among different clock domains, this paper designs and implements the specialized transmitting module for reset signals from different clock domains with the asynchronous handshake mechanism.3. According to the reset source and functional characteristics of the four reset signals: Power-on Reset, Hard Reset, Soft Reset and Local Reset, this paper designs the main functional submodules. The reset source module is used to generate the needed reset signals; the reset state machine controls the reset process; the reset output module collects and classifies the generated reset signals, also, generates the Local Reset request for the specific core.4. The paper adopts BOOTROM code solidation method to design and implement multiple boot modes for multi-core X-DSP chip with many peripherals.5. This paper verifies the function of the reset and boot control modules comprehensively. The results show that its function is correct and meets the design demand.
