Fiber modal interferometer is a typical fiber sensor,the core and cladding of fiber corresponding to the reference arm and the interference arm of the interferometer,respectively,which is simple,compact,and has larger sensitivity.We can use the special procedure of the optic fiber fusion splicer to produce various optic fiber modal interferometers.The S-shape structure is presented in this paper,and it has the advantages of simple structure,strong structure and low cost.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1.A modal interferometer sensor based on S-shape structure is proposed.The influence of different S-shape on the sensitivity of sensors is researched,and the mode field distribution of S-shape structures is simulated by Rsoft software.Comparing the effect of different offset value,it provides the reference for the production of the sensor,which is useful to acquire the best sensitivity of the sensor.2.A kind of modal interferometer with a pair of S-shape structurescascaded is p r-oposed.The cladding mode can be excited in the first S-shape structure,the claddin g mode recombined with core mode in the second S-shape structure,and then mod e int-erference is formed.Therefore,it is possible to measure temperature,refractive i ndex and micro displacement by displaying the wavelength shift3.A fiber sensor based on S-shape structure cascading with a waist-enlarge struct ure is presented.The principle of the structure is analyzed,the measurement of temperature,micro displacement and curvature are realized by using the proposed sensor,and then the sensitivities are achieved by using the method of curve fitting.
