| As an important part of humanities, history science occupies a incomparable and important position in college and high school, for it assuming the role of bridging ancient and modern, advocating the values of the mainstream and cultivating healthy personality of students. However, at present, the discipline of history has suffered the impact of the market oriented economy under the trend of major development of social economy. On employment crisis of high-level personnel of history, firstly sounds the alarm to the historians. Therefore, the public history which emphasizes practicability emerges, and makes great achievements in theoretical and practical aspects. At the same time, history in middle school is also confronting the predicament in development due to the impacts of examination system.History subject in middle school, especially that in junior high school, is facing with great crisis owing to its own cause and the reform of the examination system. As a branch that can be traced to the same origin of history, public history is characterized by practicability,disciplinary comprehensiveness, methodological diversity and collaboration, and its ideological content has penetrated into the practice of history teaching in middle school.This paper mainly takes methods of literature research, questionnaire and individual interview. Through literature research, the author understands the development background, connotation and characteristics of public history, and describes the development of public history in the United States and China by combing with the specific case. Through questionnaires and interviews to students, the author understands the application and embodiment of connotation and practice of public history on junior high school students, and the students’ knowledge and ideas about history and history class. According to the status of history subject in middle school, and connotation and characteristics of public history, the author also puts forward her own views. |
