| This report is a translation project report.The original text is Technology and Inequality: Concentrated Wealth in a Digital World.Nowadays,digital technology is popular with us,but most of us are not aware of wealth inequality happening in digital world.The translation project is extracted from Chapter 6 and 7,respectively named “Technology and Inequality Case Study: Search” and “Technology and Inequality: Social Media”,of the book Technology and Inequality: Concentrated Wealth in a Digital World.The two mainly discuss the cause of wealth inequality happening in the digital world with the examples of social media and search.Based on Peter Newmark’s view on typology,semantic translation and communicative translation,the project argues how these theories are used as guiding theories in the translation project.Meanwhile,the translator adopts corresponding conversion and transliteration to translation terminologies,adopts recasting and keeping the subjects unchanged to deal with the difficulty of abstract nouns used as subjects.This translation project aims to provide new ideas on solving wealth inequality in the digital world and ways to deal with this kind of translation works. |
