In this paper,we mainly study the meaning and grammar of directional complement “up、down ”.On this basis,the paper analyzes the content of directional complement in teaching Chinese as a foreign language in books of《Development of Chinese 》、《The Road to Success》,analyzes and sums up the errors and reasons of foreign students in the process of acquiring the directional complement.Based on the author’s teaching experience of Chinese directional complement,we try to design a targeted teaching plan.The article has 4 chapters.Preface.It reviews the status of ontology research and teaching Chinese as a foreign language,introduces the nature,scope,semantics,grammar and historical evolution of directional complements,and gives a brief introduction of the main research questions,its significance and research methods.Chapter 1 mainly discusses the semantics and syntax of the directional complement “up and down”,which is the premise of the following three chapters.Chapter 2 analyzes the order of the directional complement in the syllabus and teaching materials and the number of directional complements.From the two textbooks,《Development of Chinese》emphasis on the acquisition of grammatical structure,《The Road to Success》emphasis on the acquisition and application of semantics.Chapter 3 analyzes the errors of foreign students in the study of Chinese Directional Complement “up、down ”,summarizes the errors,analyzes the causes of errors,and reveals the problems arising from the study.Chapter 4 makes a reflection on the teaching of directional complement,and takes the extended usage of “Shang” as an example.
