Chinese Translators Journal is a national core academic journal sponsored by China International Publishing Group(CIPG)and Translators Association of China(TAC).After more than thirty-year development,it has become one of the representative of translation studies in China,enjoying a reputation in the domestic and international translation academia.The source texts of the translation task are two academic papers with the titles of Towards the Influence of Bourdieu’s Sociological Theory on Translation Sociology and Discussion of Socio-translation Studies: Identification and Reflection.The whole texts consist of about 17,000 Chinese characters,with no English versions available.“Socio-translation Studies” is a burgeoning discipline that attracts the translator’s interests.So,by carrying out the task,the translator aims to learn more about it and boosts its spreading to the western countries.The report falls into four chapters.Chapter One is an introduction,including task description,task significance and translation process;Chapter Two is preparatory works,with the analysis of the source text,the collection of translation resources and the overview of theoretical guidance being covered;Chapter Three is case analysis---the main part of the report.In this chapter,the translator analyzes some typical cases in terms of word,sentence and discourse.In linguistic level,the translator focuses on the translation of some key words,terminologies and proper nouns;in syntactical level,long and complicated sentences and passive voice are seriously discussed;and in discoursal level,the translator summarizes the primary principles of title translation,abstract translation as well as the methods of achieving coherence and cohesion.Findings and Limitations of the translation practice are discussed in the last Chapter.
