A Report On The Mock Interpretation Of Haier’s Exploration Of Transformation Based On Six Aspects In The Internet Era

As the most influential interpreting theory,the Interpretive Theory,which was developed in 1960 s by Danica Seleskovitch and Marianne Lederer,indicates that the procedure of translation is as follows: comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression.The core concept of the Interpretive Theory is deverbalization.This report discusses a mock Chinese-English consecutive interpretation task for a speech entitled “Haier’s Exploration of Transformation Based on Six Aspects in the Internet Era”,which was delivered at 2016 World Internet+Industry Conference,under the guidance of Interpretive Theory.This report mainly talks about deverbalization in consecutive interpretation,the reason why deverbalization failed and how to use interpreting tactics to achieve it.This report is divided into five chapters: task description,literature review,preparation,case analysis and summary.Task description and literature review give an introduction about the task background and Interpretive Theory respectively.Chapter three gives an account of the preparations done before the task,including my familiarization with background information and relevant technical knowledge.Chapter four probes into the typical difficulties and mistakes that arose in the task,and provides their solutions via deverbalization-based interpreting tactics.The final concluding chapter summarizes the points of misinterpretation in the interpreting task,their deverbalization-based coping tactics as well as implications of this study to the interpreting practice in the future.
