Autonomous learning has been a main goal for current education.Autonomous learning has been widely studied these years.As a main course for students,we all know that the time for students to learn English is limited,but English plays an important role in college entrance examination and even work,so English autonomous learning is really important.In those English autonomous learning research,most of them are about college students,but few of them are about vocational college students.The current study aims to find out the relationship between English scores and factors that affect English learning achievement at higher vocational colleges.The participants of this empirical study are 80 non-English-major freshmen from Liaoning National Normal College(LNNC)majored in pre-education,computer and Korean.A questionnaire is included.Factors that affect English achievement are the independent variable and English achievement is the dependent variable.The results of the questionnaire show that:(1)Many vocational college students acknowledge that English is fit for autonomous learning,but they are not good at changing the traditional learning style;(2)There are significant and positive correlations among learning strategies,materials and English achievement.The study indicates that students should not only try to find out some effective learning strategies,but also use some interesting and new materials to improve English learning.
