Background and Purposes: Music Guided Imagination(GIM)is the combination of music and imagination,this music therapy technology was invented by Helen Bonny in 1970 at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center.GIM take the psychodynamic theory and Jung analysis of psychology theory as the theoretical basis,with music as the medium,open the door of subconscious,so that the subconscious conflict,emotions into the consciousness level,to achieve the purpose of healing psychological problems.GIM is a mature music therapy technology now,the training staff situation is: Europe accounted for 41%,the United States accounted for 37%[1].GIM’s application related to clinical,mental health counseling and intervention,mental illness,rehabilitation,cancer patients psychological intervention and other aspects.But the research in Chinese is few,From the Chinese knowledge and Wanfang database,use the "music guide imagination" for the search terms for advanced search,only access to 8 related literature,in particular the use of "music guide imagination" to intervene in college students depression Emotional research is the first time.Therefore,this study uses "music guided imagination" technology to study the depression of female college students,to explore its intervention for female college students’ depression and intervention in the process of experience.Methods: This study select Dalian Medical University undergraduate student as the experimental object,with depression self-rating scale screen out the positives(n=132)and Anxiety self-rating scale was used to exclude depression with anxiety students(n=58)and excluding severe depressors(n=9).The final experimental subjects were mild to moderate depression of female undergraduates(n=65)and 4 lost in halfway.The subjects were randomly divided into experimental group and control group,experimental group of 32 people and the control group of 29 people.The experimental group was treated by music guided imagination technique.Group activities were conducted six times a week for two hours each time.The control group did not undergo any psychological intervention.The post-test was assessed by SDS.The statistical method uses SPSS20.0 software for t test.Results: In the experience of music-guided imagination intervention,there are three types of imaginary experiences of depressed college students:: 1.beautiful natural scenery closely related to the subject and guide;2.a natural vision with a symbol and a symbol;3.Related to the subject does not follow the guidance of the imagination.Research shows: After the experiment,the experimental group and the control group compared with significant differences(t=8.140,p=0.000);There was significant difference between pre-test and post-test in experimental group(t=14.602,p=0.000);The control group has no significant difference between pre-test and post-test(t=1.059,p=0.283).Compared with the control group,the experimental group showed that music guidance imagery had effect on the college students’ depression.Conclusion: Music Guided Imagination(GIM)is an effective way to interfere with the mental health of college students.
