The Structure Of Limited Prosocial Emotions

The Inventory of Callous-Unemotional Traits(ICU)was developed to specifically assess the CU traits,which showed satisfactory reliability and showed association with relevant external criteria.A series of confirmatory factor analyses revealed that a three-factor structure comprising one Callousness,one Uncaring and one Unemotional factor fit the data best;but it found that the Unemotional factor appeared low significant or even no significant association with relevant external criteria and the Unemotional scale showed poor reliability.So,this study focuses on the validation of the unemotional traits in the Inventory of Callous-Unemotional Traits.Methods:(1)This research uses Meta-analysis,which request to search all the relevant thesis and specify the inclusion criteria.This study finally examined the 44 single sample relationship between ICU and relevant external criteria.(2)Based on Reliability Generalization approach,this study focused on 35 single sample about the Cronbach’s coefficient alpha of ICU;and this study used Moderating Effect analysis to exam the Unemotional factor.Results:(1)The unemotional traits showed low significant association or even no significant association with delinquency(r = 0.09*),aggression(r = 0.05),anxiety(r = 0.00),empathy(r =-0.12*)and CD(r =0.06*).(2)The heterogeneity showed high level significant for ICU total(Q =773.385***),Callousness subscales(Q = 888.307***),Uncaring subscales(Q =590.621***)and Unemotional subscales(Q = 1038.599***),the Unemotional subscales showed the highest level significant.(3)This study examined the moderators impact the Unemotional traits internal consistency,which found the language version(Qb = 0.895),sample type(Qb = 0.115)and item type(Qb = 1.478)played no significant association with the Unemotional traits Cronbach’s coefficient alpha,while the inventory use version(Qb = 16.356***)showed significant association.It indicated that the internal consistency of others-report version is higher than self-report version.Conclusion: The Unemotional traits exists exactly some problems,this study enriches the understanding of ICU,and it suggested to modify the Unemotional items of the self-report version.
