The air compressor is important power supply equipment in the coal mine, its operation condition will affect the coal mine safety production and economic benefit directly. As the model of coal mine air compressor is old and low degree of automation, so the compressor operation is very complicated. And with the air compressor long-term use, the problems of components aging and equipment failure frequent began to appeared, this has seriously affected the compressor normal use and air supply system stability. Using artificial patrol record the operating data regularly is backward, this can not understanding the state for equipment and take measures timely. This paper summarizes the importance of this subject and research status at home and abroad, a large coal mine air compressor room automation reform in Shandong as the project background. We developed a set of mine air compressor comprehensive protection and monitoring system, using the modern industrial control technology, realized the real-time monitoring of the compressor state, pressure automatic control and comprehensive protection.Firstly, this paper has done research on air compressor working principle and the actual situation in the field, then designed the whole system, finally decided to adopt the distributed control mode which combined PLC and configuration monitoring software. From the overall system design, software and hardware design, communication system design, until the application of comprehensive protection technology, this article detailed exposition of the system design process. In the hardware design part, this paper takes the hardware wiring design and equipment selection, for PLC, sensor, power supply module and inverter. We also designed the layout and the anti-jamming for the control cabinet. In the software design part, not only completed the PLC programming, modular designed the A/D conversion, automatic pressure control, fault alarm function and so on, but also completed the MCGS configuration design and realized the compressor remote and spot real-time monitoring. The paper also studied the PPI and TCP/IP communications between upper and lower machine. Finally, use BP algorithm optimized the multi-sensor data fusion technology, the technology achieved a more accurate fault diagnosis for air compressor.
