Optical frequency comb(OFC) is an optical source with discrete, equal frequency interval, whose spectral shape is like a comb. It has good stability and high precision of line spacing with important applications in optical precision measurement, microwave photonics, optical communication technology and medical. Therefore, the generation and application of wide, flat and tunable optical frequency comb has become research topic for the scholars.In this thesis, the research purpose and signification of optical frequency comb are clarified, the research status of optical frequency comb generation is also summarized. A scheme of wide, flat and tunable optical frequency comb generation based on a Dual Drive Mach-Zehnder Modulator(DDMZM) is presented. This scheme has the advantages of simple structure, easy implementation. Working principle of the scheme is introduced in detail and the theory model is also established. By using the optical simulation software, the impacts of system parameters on comb-line spacing, center frequency, spectral power and spectral purity of the generated OFC are investigated. Then, another flat and tunable OFC generation scheme based on Lithium Niobate Mach-Zehnder Modulator(LiNbO3-MZM) and Electro Absorption Modulator(EAM) is proposed. Working principle of the scheme is introduced in detail. By using the optical simulation software, the impacts of system parameters on comb-line spacing, center frequency, spectral power and spectral purity of the generated OFC are investigated. Finally, the research purpose and signification of microwave signal are clarified, the research status of multi-band microwave signal generation is also summarized. An OFC application scheme is proposed, which is the ultra-wide and tunable multi-band microwave signal generation based on optical frequency comb. By using the optical simulation software, the impacts of system parameters on frequency spacing, spectrum bandwidth, spectral power and spectral purity of the generated OFC are investigated.
