The Study Of The Life Quality Of Families With Autistic Children In Chengdu

Family is the center of the children’s social ecology. Autism is not onlythe defect of children, but also the obstacles that the whole family faced with. Researchshows that, pressure in the family with autistic children is significantly higher than thatthe family with normal children, and the family with children with other disability. Theautism children’s families are easy to go wrong, such as depression, marital crisis, andso on. Communicating with the autism children’s parents, found that their life quality isrregularity too. To help the family with autistic children take their responsibility to thesociety comprehensively, the society should provide them appropriate supports. Tomake the future policy decision and support can more effectively serve for the familywith autistic children, we need to know these families’ life quality and their need.Using the self-made research tool “Questionnaire about Life Quality of Family WithAutistic Children”, the study investigated90families with autistic children in Chengduarea, to know about the information of autism children and their families, to explore thecondition of the autism children’s family from the following four aspects: physical,emotional, leisure and available service related to disability, and to analyze thesubjective feeling of the autism children’s family to the importance and satisfaction onthe four aspects of life quality. On the basis of questionnaire survey, the study selected13autism children’s parents, and interviewed them, to understand the influence to thefamily taken by the autism children.The research results show that, the autism children have influence on the familyfrom physical, emotional, leisure and the available service related to disability; themean of satisfaction is all lower than the average of importance. Among them, theaverage ranking of the importance, which is made by the autism children family, is in the order: emotional, physical, obtained service related to disability, and leisure. Thesatisfaction of family is that: emotional, physical, leisure and obtained service related todisability. And the interview object represented the specific effects from the autismchildren to the family. Based on the results of the study, to promote the life quality offamily with children with autism, the researcher gives some advice to the followingpeople: the maker and performer of policy about disability, educational managementworkers, educational workers of autism children, and the family that has autismchildren.
