The Study On Zheng Xiaojiang’s Philosophy Of Life And Death

Everyone will face the reality of living and dying and the thinking on life and death is necessary and reasonable. Zheng Xiaojiang made research on the life and death issue of modern people on the basis of Chinese traditional life and death view and formed his philosophy of life and death. The thesis makes a study on Zheng Xiaojiang’s philosophy of life and death, including four parts. The first three parts are descriptions of theory and application of Zheng Xiaojiang’s life and death philosophy and the last part is the evaluation and enlightenment.The first part mainly combs Zheng Xiaojiang’s works and articles on Chinese traditional life and death philosophy and makes a conclusion, which is the main theory basis of it. The life and death philosophy holds the distinct characteristics of each age and it will vary with the time changes and society development. Therefore, the author divides Zheng Xiaojiang’s studies on Chinese traditional life and death philosophy into three periods chronologically : the Pre-Qin Period, from Western Han and Eastern Han Dynasty to Ming and Qing Dynasties, and modern times, and interprets the corresponding features.The second part describes the basic theory of Zhang Xiaojiang’s life and death philosophy, makes a further exploration and discussion of it in terms of life, living, lifetime, and death. The first section gives the three dimensions of life including physical blood relationship life, interpersonal social life and spiritual transcendence life and its three characteristics such as holiness, uniqueness and common characteristics, which contribute to discover the nature of life. The second section makes a distinction between living and life and indicates the four components of living: spatial constitution, situational constitution, timing constitution and spiritual constitution, which also contains the key principle of “the inequation of life time and physical time” proposed by Zheng Xiaojiang; the third section interprets the wisdom of life and presents what the bitter of life is, where the bitter from, and how to remove the bitters, which includes the principles of stress of life and living and that of “life community”; the fourth section illustrates the wisdom of death, including Zheng Xiaojiang’s philosophical thinking on death, the reason why people fear death, the sense of death, and the principle of “infiltration of life and death”. In this way, the thesis attempts to discover the philosophical wisdom to solve the death problems, instruct the world to concern death more than living. The author illustrates the basic theory of Zheng Xiaojiang’s philosophy of life and death in those four parts, which provides a way to figure out the nature of life and death, seek for human value and let people not be puzzled by life and death issues any more.The third part of the thesis is to introduce the application of Zheng Xiaojiang’s philosophy of life and death, including the application in life education thought and hospice, funeral culture and so on. In the first section, the thesis explains the reasons and problems of the development of China’s life education, which is based on Zheng Xiaojiang’s life education. In the second section, Zheng Xiaojiang reveals the current situation of the development of hospice care, and points out the shortcomings. Zheng Xiaojiang puts forward a series of new hospice care thought and funeral culture based on the combination of life and death philosophy with life education, hospice care and funeral industry, which directs the development of life education industry, hospice care activities and funeral cultural campaign. It is the theoretical achievements instructed by Zheng Xiaojiang’s life and death philosophy, which could help people know more about the life and death, eliminate the troubles of life and seek for happy life.The last part of the thesis is the author’s evaluation and enlightenment of Zheng Xiaojiang’s philosophy of life and death, including Zheng Xiaojiang’s traditional views of life and death, basic theory of his philosophy of life and death, and the evaluation of its application. Besides, the author has a thought on the development of life education and formation of the correct view of life, and proposes some suggestions to commemorate Mr. Zheng Xiaojiang.
