After Cultural Turn, domestic researches on translation of culture-loaded words are in full swing in translation circle. But most of them are restricted in publicizing translation about native culture by local scholars, few of which are made from western perspective. The author imports Skopos Theory which bridges the gap between translating theory and practice. Skopos Theory holds that the decisive factor of employing translation strategy is the intended function and purpose of translation. By using quantitative analysis, this paper takes translation of culture-loaded words from New York Times as an example, which aims to discuss translation of Chinese culture-loaded words from the perspective of Skopos Theory. As New York Times is an authoritative newspaper in the United States, the results based on analysis of this paper have great acceptability and generalizability.This article selected reports of New York Times from June to October in2012, including201Chinese reports and126Chinese culture-loaded words. After analyzing, it shows there are86Chinese culture-loaded words translated by means of foreignization, accounting for about69%, and other40words by means of domestication. That conforms to the essential purpose of the newspaper--to cater to the desire of seeking novelty about foreign culture as much as possible on the basis of being understood. The translation of Chinese culture-loaded words selected from New York Times gives priority to foreignization, with supplementing by domestication, which indicates that it is an inevitable trend to use China English, containing specific Chinese cultural feature, when involving Chinese affairs; China English would be one of the most important parts of Global English. So a translator should have enough confidence and reason to employ foreignization in dealing with publicizing translation in order to disseminate Chinese culture over the world.
