Everyday cognition in the old has been extensively researched in psychologyand medical. However, these previous studies generally adopted survey method andmeasurement, which failed in elaborating the relationship of variables.Different from previous studies, this study discussed the impact of perceivedstress on everyday cognition in the old by experimental study. In the experiment1,blood pressure monitor was used to record subjects’ blood pressure which was abiological indicator of stress. Comparing blood pressure under experimental controland its baseline, the results showed that there was significant difference between theexperimental group and the control group, which proved that the experimental controlwas efficient. The experiment2discussed the influence of perceived stress oneveryday cognition in the old. All the subjects were divided into high perceived stressgroup and low perceived stress group through the results of the perceived stress scale.Then30subjects from high perceived stress group (15) and low perceived stress group(15) respectively made up high pressure situation group. The others made up lowpressure situation group. These two different pressure situation groups finished theexperimental task under high pressure situation and low pressure situation respectively. The results can be summarized as follows:(1) There was no significant gender difference in perceived stress.(2)Perceived stress impacts elders’ everyday cognition significantly. Comparingold people with high perceived stress, the old with low perceived stress were better ineveryday cognition, especially under the low pressure situation.
