In the context of creative industries rising globally, urban renewal and industry upgrading, it is a necessity to develop creative industries. And Creative parks are important space vector of the creative industries, thus to study how to layout creative industries parks to promote the development of creative industries is of great significance. The paper studies the location factors of Creative parks in Shanghai, not only providing advices for the development of creative industries in Shanghai, but also offering reference for the development of creative industries in other cities.Looking at the domestic and international research, the current research on the location of creative industries all take the entire creative industries in all industries as a whole, and mainly with qualitative methods. The paper studies the location of different types of creative industries, which is a relatively new topic, with both qualitative and quantitative methods to make the results more scientific and more convincing.After defining the concepts of creative industry, creative park and the classification of creative industries, the paper reviews the latest progress on the topic. The review mainly covers research on the creative industry cluster and location, and the specific contents are the cluster factors of creative industry, the location factors of creative industry and the location factors of all types of creative industries. Researches home and abroad on location factors of different types of industries are references for this study. And the industrial cluster theory and location theory are helpful to understand the formation mechanism of creative parks and its spatial distribution. Then there comes the two main parts of the article.The first main part is to explore location factors for creative industry in all industries as a whole. The paper selects a few typical creative parks, analyzes their successful development experiences and sums up the location advantages contributing to the development of creative industries, which are social infrastructure factor, knowledge-science and technology-talent factor, history-culture-economy factor, and institution factor. And it concretely analyzes the formation mechanism of these location factors. Then it establishes the spatial data model of89municipal-listed creative parks in Shanghai with the Arcmap as data analysis platform, then uses the Kernel Density tool to calculate the spatial distribution density map of Shanghai creative industry to furtherly verify those location factors.The second main part is to explore location factors for each type of creative industries respectively. Using the mathematical statistics method to analyze the priority order of location factors for creative industries in all types of industries, and combining the intensity of location factors for creative industries in all types of industries to analyze the decisive location factor and controlling location factor for creative industries in all types of industries, the results showing:①for media industry, decisive location factors are history-culture-economy factor, social infrastructure factor and institution factor; the controlling factor is knowledge-science and technology-talent factor;②for art industry, decisive location factors are history-culture-economy factor, institution factor and knowledge-science and technology-talent factor; the controlling location factor is social infrastructure factor;③for industrial design industry, the decisive location factor is social infrastructure factor; controlling location factors are history-culture-economy factor, knowledge-science and technology-talent factor and institution factor;④for fashion industry, decisive location factors are history-culture-economy factor and social infrastructure factor, controlling location factors are institution factor and knowledge-science and technology-talent factor;⑤for architectural design industry, decisive location factors are social infrastructure factor and history-culture-economy factor, controlling location factors are knowledge-science and technology-talent factor and institution factor;⑥for network information industry and software industry, since both of them belong to the computer science industry, their results are the same, with decisive location factors being knowledge-science and technology-talent factor and institution factor, and controlling location factors being history-culture-economy factor and social infrastructure factor;⑦for consultancy-service industry, the decisive location factor is social infrastructure factor; controlling location factors are history-culture-economy factor, knowledge-science and technology-talent factor and institution factor;⑧for advertising and exhibition industry, the decisive location factor is institution factor; controlling location factors are knowledge-science and technology-talent factor, history-culture-economy factor and social infrastructure factor;⑨for leisure and entertainment industry, since it’s still immature, research is not done temporarily.In connection with the location factors for creative industries, the paper puts forward a few suggestions:①With the deepening of economy reform, the industrial property of creative industries strongly highlights, so not only should the government support creative industries on finance, taxation, land use, environment, introduction of talents and other policies, but also learn to let them go and grasp a right degree of regulation to allow the market to participate in financing and enterprises to participate in management;②Government, industry and academic institution tripartite work together to build creative industry parks.In support of government industrial policies, universities and research institutes culture and transport creative talents for creative industries, and creative enterprises should seriously take up the role of high-tech venture service center. At the same time, universities need to share their teaching resources and socialize their service functions;③The creative industry in leisure and entertainment industry has just started, considering that it’s in Shanghai which has rich entertainment, so there is much room for its development and it needs to be rised.
