This report focuses on the translation of Mr. Right, Next Door which is a cooperativeproject between Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and the author. During thistranslation, by combining theory and practice, the author carefully completes this translation.Based on the completion of translation, the author critically analyzes problems and difficultiesexisted in this process, then studies the combination of literariness and content of a literarytext and summarizes this practice.This report consists of four chapters. In the first chapter, the author briefly describes thistranslation work. In the second chapter, the author introduces the detailed translation processwhich mainly consists of pre-translation, mid-translation and post-translation. In the thirdchapter, based on functional equivalence theory which guides this translation practice, theauthor critically analyzes some specific examples. In the fourth chapter, the authorsummarizes the translation experience.As a literary novel, Mr. Right, Next Door adopts simple and colloquial words whichrequire the author to carry out proper conversions. After this translation, the author believesthat a translator should master not only flexible translation techniques but also all-aroundprofessional and pluralistic knowledge.
