The conception of the concert originated from my experience when I attended Ethnicand Multicultural music reading session in ACDA in2013, and afterwards enlightenedby the course of “form analysis of Chinese traditional folk music” offered bydepartment of Musicology, I began to show strong interest in folk songs。 Acomprehensive survey of global folk songs tells that world-wide musicians devote topromoting the inheritance of folk songs by means of various performance forms, among which demonstration of folk songs via Chorus is popular with most people. With the help of my advisor, by means of plenty of music reading and collection, Iselect22representative works with artistic value and suitable for indoor chorus, among which Chinese works amounts to one half. I spend half a year in preparingworks for the concert.During the process, I realize the following aspects are important, Selecting worksdepends on plenty of music reading; Precision of singing plays a decisive role inworks’ style; Interpretation of works relies on proper understanding of folk songs’background; Rehearsal requirements such as vocalization and articulation should bemade based on characteristic of the language.Originality of the concert finds full expression in the following aspects, Firstly, all theworks are chorus works adapted from domestic and foreign folk songs, among whichsome are newly-created works for the concert; Secondly, the concert involves folksongs of many countries with rich languages, and original language is used in singingperformance;Thirdly, singing organizations are established through open recruitmentand temporarily composed in chamber choir, and the concert is completed under thecooperation of organizations and the conductor.
