The area of Oceans accounts for about 71% of the earth surface, and the oceans are rich in natural resources. Nowadays, because of the scarcity of resources, it is necessary to develop natural resources. Marine fishing is one of the most important way for developing marine resources, which yields up an abundance of food. Even today marine fishing products are the chief sources of food intake. Trawling, which has a large work area and a high work efficiency, is the main way for marine fishing. With the over-fishing and environmental expense of offshore fisheries, the marine fishing work areas have moved from offshore to deep sea. As a result, the fishing township and the equipment need further escalation.Net drums is an important fishing equipment in trawler, which is mainly used for receive net and get fishes. And the trawling efficiency strongly depended on net drums performance. The ageing fishing equipment with low performance, is mismatch with new fishing ship. Study new net drums equipment can greatly improving the working efficiency of trawling.Our paper introduced the role and working principle of net drums in detail. We introduce the development actualities of the net drums by reviewing amount of the related literature. Moreover, we pointed out the development trend of net drums according to the modern working methods. Furthermore, we clarified the importance of development and design the new type net drums according to domestic situation and the needs of pelagic trawling.The basic parameter of net drums were set by referring the domestic deep sea fishing boats, the nets and the fishing production status. And the main structure size and the performance parameters were calculated by referring the basic parameter. The design of part was also accomplished. In this paper, we use Pro/E design software and their parametric design method to complete the 3D modeling of the part and the assembling for the body of net drums. The main parts were then added to ANSYS software. Rely on the powerful meshing capabilities and the load meshing capabilities of the ANSYS software, the optimization analysis for the structure of net drums has been complicated. We chose hydraulic transmission as our transmission mode because it has lots of advantage and been widely used in large fishing boats. The design of hydraulic system and the choosen of key parts were determined according to the working needs of net drums. In this paper, the design of the hydraulic system adopts load sensing control system to reduce energy conservation. In this paper, relying on the advantage of mechanical system dynamics automatic analysis software ANAMS, we made the motion simulation of net drums. The design was further optimized by data analysis.
