The Study On Integrated Design For Traditional Brick-Timber Buildings Of Dingshu South Street, Yixing Towards Functional & Performancial Improvement

The wide-spread traditional settlements, which are in urgent need of maintain and renewal in the new urbanization,not only have the historical and cultural significance but are also related to people’s livelihood. Brick-timber Buildings as the cells of settlements are difficult to adapt to the needs of modern life in some extends. Therefore, dual improvementof function and performance becomes a pressing matter to improve living qualities, based on maintaining their original style and pattern The thesis includes six parts. The first chapter describes the problems tradional timber dwellings faced under the rapid urbanization, and to determine the research significance of the thesis; The second chapter, combining with field investigation, make analysis of the characteristics and problems of brick-timber dwellings, which will lead to the direction of the research; The next three chapters, respectively put forward the corresponding integrated design strategy from three aspects of architectural courtyard space, the main functional space and auxiliary space. The last chapter makes a conclusion of all the research above.
