Overloading transportation increases the transportation capacity and efficiency significantly, improves benefit in addition. Countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Sweden strive to develop the railway heavy-load transportation in recent years. Due to the restriction of the arrival and departure track length of stations along the line, improving the wagon axle load is an priority selection. As axle load increases, the life cycle of railway infrastructure facilities, bridges may decrease, and the technical standard and requirement about mobile devices had to improve. In development of heavy-axle-load, how to choose reasonable axle load to win maximum benefits has important implications to our country. Specifically, the content can be abstracted as follows.(1) Four aspects including market demand, technical standards and level, fixed facilities, mobile devices are put forward based on reviewing the theory research of heavy-axle-load.(2) Combined with statistical dates of nearly a decade such as locomotive, vehicles, goods, analysis the status quo and trend of the domestic railroads freight from the perspective of market demand.(3) Factors as railway infrastructure, bridges, hump of marshalling station, communications facilities, tractive power supply system, arrival and departure track, loading and unloading facilities of station, locomotive, wagon, organization of train operation, technical standards and level influence the selection of axle load. Analyze the relationship of these factors and axle road separately.(4) Based on the actual operational situation of daqin line, using equivalent axle load value annual to analyze the relationship between the cost of the infrastructure maintenance and axle load value.(5) Analyze cases of the typical new lines and existing railway, study technical feasibility of different axle load, calculate the change of economic benefit, and determine the reasonable axle load.Through research, a conclusion that line infrastructure, technology and equipment, maintenance during operating are the factors influence the railway axle load is drew. Different axle load of wagon creates variant profit. From the perspective of economics analysis, suggestions that axle load selection in China for new-built railway is 30 tone and existing railway is 25 tone is made. This recommendation can provide reference in development of heavy axle load to improve the economic benefits of railway transportation.
