The global climate changes have impacted on the production and life of human seriously. By analyzing the correlation between solar activity, human carbon emissions and global climate change, we found that the rapid increase of the emissions of carbon dioxide as the main ingredient of the greenhouse gas from human activities is one of the main factors that cause global warming. Reduction of Carbon emission has become the important issues of human survival and development. The paper industry need to consume not only large amounts of coal, oil, natural gas and other primary energy, but also a lot of power as secondary energy. Primary energy consumption and secondary energy production will emit large quantities of carbon dioxide. With the economic development and the improvement of people’s living standards, China has become the superpower of production and consumer of paper products. the proportion of carbon dioxide emissions in all industries accordingly growth caused by the rapid growth of production. In order to understand the entire emissions of carbon dioxide from paper industry, we first to analyze the paper production process from the micro-level, as well as the carbon footprint of all aspects of this process. On this basis, further analyze the factors that impact carbon dioxide emissions amount of China’s paper industry from the macro level about the four aspects:energy intensity, energy structure, energy efficiency, industry development level by the KAYA carbon dioxide emissions model and LMDI factorization method. The results show that, from1996to2010, carbon dioxide emissions intensity did not significantly affect carbon emissions, the development of the industry is to continue to be a major promote factor in the increase of carbon emissions, the efficiency of energy use reduce carbon emissions, energy structure changes variably and have a largest impact for carbon dioxide emissions.According to the GHG calculation tools of IPCC, through the calculation of carbon emissions from steam consumption, power consumption and biomass energy, based on the LCA, make a systematical analysis about the carbon footprint process of paper production process by the process analysis method. The results show that our typical pulp and paper line carbon sinks rate is less than0.76, far less than1, does not meet the requirements of low-carbon paper. Find problems of paper industry in terms of energy consumption and carbon emissions in China by comparison with developed countries. On the basis of the analysis of the influencing factors and carbon footprint above, point out the direction and path of the development of paper industry in China:expand business scale, improve industrial concentration, integration of forestry and paper industry, optimize the structure of raw materials, to strengthen the financial support of technological innovation and environmental regulation efforts, and put forward a number of policy recommendations.
