There are more and more attention in computer group animation, it become a hot spot in3Danimation. Computer group animation is behavior control of intelligent digital role following thesame conducting code in a computer environment. Because of its accuracy, intelligent andinfinite maneuverability, computer group animation is now widely used in urban planning, movieanimation, and the development of game, training systems, fire disaster scene simulation andcommand support. There are so much attention in this area that the research of computer groupanimation and the generation of authoring tool generate a great deal of demand.Although traditional methods of computer group animation have produced many excellentanimations, it has some limitations that can not be avoided, especially in group shape modeling.It is faced with the lack of creativity, individual modeling is difficult to achieve diversity, longdesign cycles, high production cost, the space is large, software processing speed is slow, andmany other problems.It is urgent need for the production of3D group animation modeling to develop a method ofcomputer aided design. For the computer aided design can inspire the creation of the cartoondesigner, it is helpful for the generation of novel and unique3D animation modeling with smallcapacity in high efficiency.This paper propose a group role modeling method based on feature, the structurecharacteristic and the ridge-valley line characteristic of the model is used for group rolemodeling, and a simplify of the model based on ridge-valley line is adopted.(1)Propose a group role modeling method based on feature."Features" is embodied in two aspects. The first is classification based on the characteristicsof fine-grained, classify the role model according to characteristics of different components, andthen use the modeling method that is adaptive to the feature. The second is hierarchical modelingbased on the feature, apply the NURBS structure line to the profile modeling according to itsfeature, and apply the ridge-valley line to the detail modeling according to its feature.(2)Propose the profile modeling method of the group role based on the evolution andassembly of the NURBS structure line.The method achieves the process of group cartoon model generated by one cartoon model.Genetic algorithm is applied to groups of the same type of modeling, apply this method for eachcomponent to form a variety of component libraries; particle swarm algorithm is applied to thecombination of the components of the complex models, combinatorial optimization of thevarious components in this algorithm, the formation of the model groups. (3)Propose the detail method of the group role based on the interaction of the ridge-valleyline.Firstly extract the ridge-valley line that can represent the characteristics of the modelsurface, the second is the deformation of the valley-ridge line. In this way diverse role model canbe quickly generated.(4)Propose the model simplification method based on the feature of the ridge-valley line.First we extract ridge-valley lines via implicit surface, then we adopt a compactly supportedbasis functions based multi-scale approach to construct implicit surface model. The results showthat the method is highly efficient in terms of both space and time cost, it can reduce the amountof the vertex apparently, the models obtained can preserve the important feature efficiently.The experiment show that, the model generated by the profile modeling method has a highdegree of simulation, and the generation process is quick, but the model generated is not fineenough; the detail modeling method focus on the valley-ridge line only, not only the process isefficient, but also the generated model is more detailed and realistic, make up for the deficiencyof the profile modeling; the model simplification method is highly efficient in terms of bothspace and time cost, it can reduce the amount of the vertex apparently, the models obtained canpreserve the important feature efficiently.
