"QianJia Poetry Points Recorded" Research

This essay is a study of the ranks of the poets in Qianlong and Jiaqing period (of the Qing Dunasty). Starting from the basic information about this book, we will develop a understanding of all the poets and complimentary remarks, in order to be able to have some understanding of the Parnassus of Qianlong and Jiaqing period. The essay is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is about the author, version and style. Firstly, we will talke about the writer who wrote this work and we will give a reasonable supplement of the writers, Su Wei and Chen Wenshu. Su Wei and Chen Wenshu met in1801or1802, in stead of in1807, which was thought by a lot of schlars, but they became close friends in Suzhou in1807, when Chen Wenshu settled down here to be a official and Shu Wei did earlier.We expoud Chen’s significant contribution to the work through preface of the work, Ye Dehui’s view and comparation, of practice of holding banquets and assessing other poets.We have a discussion of pseudonym. Secondly we research the version by a comprasion of seven verions.lastly, we talk about the forms of the work.Chapter Ⅱ is on the poets including in this work. Due to the style called "also", the number of poets is increased to152, while the number goes down to148because of four nicknamed. Therefore, we will firstly point the differences of poets between the various versions by comparisons. Section I is Bi Yuan, whose name is in all versions,. By the anaysis of people on him, we can kown the reason why Bi canbe written in the book and have a high rank. Section II is Yuan Tang and Yuan Hong. Who is Yuan Hong and his relationship with Yuan Tang, Yuan Mei will be explanation on this section. The third section is Zhang Jinfang and Chen Tingqing, who are not written in all seven versions.Chapter III is on the remarks which reflect the writers’poem view. This chapter will be divided into five sections. From the fisrt to the forth section, we will have a study about the contents of the praisings. The contents can be classified into four kinds, according to the Heros or the poets, poets’style of poem, tieing up to the letters and what can not be explaned clear. We will do this job of the following respects, commenting on the poems has been explanned, while they include something hard to understand such as allusions, the interesting anecdotes about the poets, and implicit criticisms. The fifth section is the study of the art feature of praisings and the value of this work.There are two characteristics of the remarks: one is to learn from the writing method of history book Chunqiu; the second is applying a lot of literary quotation. The Poetics value is also reflected in two points:the large number of recorded poet and their representative, having a means of writing history of poetry, reflecting writer’s admiration of the spirit and knowledge in poerty.
