In Modern Chinese,"shi...de" is not only a special and important sentence structure,but also an obstacle for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The phase,”to NativeEnglish Speakers” in this paper, refers to native speakers of English who learn Chinese as asecond languge. In this paper,"shi...de" sentence structure could be divided into twocategories: sentence structure (I) and structure (II) based on the previous research analysis.In order to advice the specific teaching method and to review the "shi...de" sentence errorsthat were made by Chinese learners who are English native speakers and the errors’reasons,"HSK Language Data Base" and "Chinese Language Test Survey" were used forthe analysis.This Paper divides into five parts:Part1is introduction. Mainly focus on the "Topic Selection","Topic Meaning","Language Data Base","Analysis Method","Theoretical Basics" and "Literature Review"Part2is focusing on analyzing and categorizing all different kinds of errors that weremade by the Chinese learners who are English native speakers. And also analyzing thesurvey which was taken by the Chinese learners who are English native speakers, andstudy how effective they were for learning "shi...de" sentence structure under few differentcircumstances.Part3is analyzing the reasons for different type of errors that were made by theChinese learners who are English native speakers.Part4is focusing on making a progress on teaching suggestions, instructional design,teaching methods and improving the teaching materials, especially for "shi...de" sentencestructure based on the previous research results.Part5is summarizing this paper, and is concluding something can be improved.
