The Research On Western Feminist Reading

As a reading activity,reading has been explained in many levels and angles except gender.The western feminists put women’s angle of view in the reading practice,which directly in the gender reading.Whereas,in the long process of history of civilization dominated by men,man’s angle of view is regard as general type.This article is about western feminist reading research,the writer attempts to through the analysis of Western feminist reading theory and practice,making us reflect on the status of Chinese feminist reading.At the same time,provide a solution for the Chinese feminist reading predicament.This article consists of five parts:The introduction roughly introduces Western feminist reading theory,and analyzes the development situation and predicament of Chinese feminist reading by theory acceptance and text practice.Chapter I is the introduction about the background of Western feminist reading research.First is women’s reading spectrum,which is the key factors of feminist reading theory,and is easily neglected.The second factor is the development of the feminist movement.The third is the reception theory,which is the the theoretical basis of feminist reading theory.Chapter II, the representative figures and their points of Western feminist reading theory.It mainly introduces the contributions to the Western feminist reading theory of Mary Ellmann, Kate Millett, Judith Fetterley, Elane Showalter,Jonathan Culler, Jean E. Kennard.Chapter III,Western feminist reading theoretical orientation. One is representation and anti-represention;The other is sex politics theory. I attempt to through the ananylis of them to explore the motivation and meaning behind of the feminist reading,and further inspect feminist reading’s position of the whole feminist criticism.In conclusion, briefly summary about the reading effect brought by feminist reading practice,at the same time puts forward the necessity of construction of Chinese feminist reading.
