《To Challenge The Science<Chemical>Japan EJU Measures》(the First Chapter)Translation Practice Report

With China’s accession to the WTO and the acceleration of globalization, legal translation is playing an increasingly important role in today’s society, making the translation of legal texts in great demand. The professional qualities of both translations and translators are of importance.This is a translation project report for Law Concerning the protection and management of animals.The report basis itself on The Functionalist Perspective which has been applied in legal trans!alion;cornbmg with several translation methods that are free translation.literal translation,adding translation,reduction translation and transfomiation translation,endeavors to emphasize the applicability and importance of applying The Functionalist Perspective in legal translation.The Translation project report is divided into four chapters.The introduction which is also the first chapter includes the researching background.significance and content.Chapter Two reviews the research question and sums up the research results so far.The third chapter carries out analysis of some specific cases.Firstly.there is a summary of the translation problems.The problems include the limitations of the time and data,difficult words and sentences,accurate translation.Secondly chapter three introduces something about The Functionalist Perspective and translation Methodologies.Finally.part three introduces several translation methods which are free translation,literal translation.adding translation,reduction translation and transformation translation.Chapter Four is the conclusion which includes the enlightenment and lessons from the project. As is shown in the report, in the whole process of the legal translation, the Functionalist Perspective is of guiding significance to the ways ranging from thinking and deciding, the negotiation and communication among all participants, the aims of determining translation behaviors to the handling of language selection. When involved in legal translation, the translator can follow the directions of Functionalism and stick to the principles like aims or loyalty, not only focusing on the accuracy of information delivery, but also coordinating the relationship between participants" clients and target language readers. It is expected that the translation strategies, principles and approaches studied in this paper can be beneficial to the specific jobs of legal translators.
