| Since the whole society has begun to lay importance to the problems of migrant children,researchers try to explain various causes of migrant children from different perspectives. Thesubjects of this research are migrant children from primary schools to middle schools. Basedon the description of how much they are satisfied with their life, this research has learnedabout the situation of their life. It has made a deep study of all the factors. The purpose of thisresearch is not only to enrich theoretical research, but also to provide reference for practicalwork concerning migrant children.The research investigates the characteristics of the life environment and its influence onthe life satisfaction of Migrant Children.489migrant children and489urban children inHebei complete the research. Study One uses the Multidimensional Students Life SatisfactionQuestionnaire. The results show that:(1) The migrant children reach the average and aboveaverage level on the overall satisfaction. According to priority, the evaluation of satisfaction inevery field is: satisfaction towards friendship, school life, family life, self satisfaction andliving condition;(2) Migrant children’s level of life satisfaction and multidimensional lifesatisfaction are significantly lower than those of urban children; however, the differences arenot obvious in family and school life.(3) The level of life satisfaction of migrant primaryschool students is significantly higher than those of migrant junior middle school children,and this tendency is affected by gender. The difference is obvious among girls not boys.In Study Two, we investigate the life environment about both objective environmentincluding family economic status, satisfaction of parents, life pressure and socialpsychological environment including trust and support from parents and teachers. The resultsshow that:(1) Migrant children’s levels of family economic status, and social psychologicalenvironment are significantly lower than those of urban children; but the number of stressfulevents is larger than those of urban children;(2) There is no significant difference between thetwo groups in parents’ sense of happiness.Study three centers on the relations between life environment and life satisfaction ofmigrant children. The results show that:(1) Life satisfaction has a significant relation to lifeenvironment and social psychological environment;(2) Life environment accounts for21.9% of the overall explanation to life satisfaction, and the social psychological factor also plays animportant part.(3) Family economic level can influence life satisfaction directly, or it canaffect life satisfaction indirectly by parents’ sense of happiness and trust and support. |
