Nalanxingde’s poems have all kinds of genres, rich in content and style. Even so, the spread of the Ci is much better than the poetry clearly. There are some reasons for this, firstly, Nalan consider the poems as a symbol of personality, while the Ci just as an outlet to express personal emotions secretly. So he is more prudent in the publication and transmission of the poetry, and fewer constraints in the Ci. Secondly, experts pay more attention on his Ci, readers are more likely to choose his Ci as a result. Thirdly, the readers’ reading motivation is entertainment not research, so they are more willing to read the Ci which express joys and sorrows of their own and can be understood more easily, then his poetry is not as popular as the Ci with the deep thoughts, that is far away from the daily life of the common people. Finally, the booksellers cater to readers for more economic benefits. There is a rule that the poem is the carrier of ambition and the Ci is his emotional sustenance. So the poetry always have the big topic, such as, the observation of social reality, the original ideas on the rise and fall of the history, the aesthetic, ambition and so on. As a result, Nalan abide by the different rules. It is indeed something rare and deserving praise that he had put forward many theories on poems whether in practice writing read a book or learning from other famous poets. In these theories, his arguments are penetrating expect for some misalignments on examples. In the debate of Learning Tang or Learning Song, Nalan considered that we should find what is suitable for our own and comply with our own heart. In a word, the poem is more of a voice from one’s heart rather than the imitation and simulation. This is consistent with the essence of Chinese classical literature. This theory throughout his entire literary creation and he had completed his true self shaping.
