The Study On The Evolution Of Urban Spatial Morphology In Tianshui City

"The development of a city is a continuous process, with the past, the present and the future on the same time chain." TianShui City has witnessed a history of more than two thousand years, and is famous for its history and culture. The development of TianShui City has led to urban land uses growth, population aggregation and social structure transformation. In order to fully understand the dynamical mechanism, the evolution and the influence on the future of the development of Tianshui City Urban Space, the paper studies the factors of TianShui City urban space, the spatial form and characteristics of elements in different periods, in the hope of combing the development process of the city, and exploring the patterns and direction of the development of the city in the future.The paper is based on the basic theories of urban spatial morphology and valley-basin city spatial structure evolvement theories, and studies on TianShui City since1949. Firstly we studied the evolution of the main factors which affected the urban development of Tianshui City from various aspects of nature, the economy, the social development and the urban and rural construction also we have outlined the inner and external conditions of the city development. Then we studied the process of the elements of urban land use and spatial evolution by stages, teased out the development of urban space history, and also researched on the evolution of Tianshui Ancient City and the influence of the urban master planning. We used quantitative method to verify and complete the result from qualitative analysis; Finally we did some research on the direction and mode of the city in the future.The results show that the urban spatial morphology of Tianshui City now is the result of comprehensive efforts from many agents. The city has experienced from the free to the semi-free extension since1949. The" Three-line Construction" is first leaping development of the city. Now the urban spatial morphology of Tianshui City presents still as the" double city" mode. Also, there exist the situations of rapid growth of the urban land However, affected by natural and man-made restrictions the city is now in need of new development spaces.
