The cylindrical array is widely used both in the sonar system under water and airborneradar system. With the rapid development of the stealth technology of the modern submarineand the need of national defense and the exploitation of ocean resource, the performance suchas target detection and location-tracking required to be improved, so study and analyze thebeam forming method of cylindrical array and improve the signal processing performance ofit is essential. The pressure sensors only measure the sound pressure, but the vector sensorscan measure the particle velocity at the same time, so they are widely used and shown to beeffective in the line array. Base on the pressure circular array and cylindrical array, this paperstudy the beam forming method of vector circular array and cylindrical array and comparedwith the pressure array both for the narrowband and wideband signals used three ways:theoretical analyzer, simulation used Matlab and the processing of date in the lake. Accordingthe actual research, this paper can divided three parts as follows:1. Confirm the math model of circular array and cylindrical array both in pressure andvector situations: calculate the directed graph of circular array and cylindrical array andanalyzer the performance. According to the theory and simulation, compared with thepressure cylindrical array, the vector cylindrical array has obvious advantage in some aspectsuch as the directivity, array gain and the CRB bond2. Study the different beam forming methods for narrowband and wideband signals: fornarrowband signal, first study the basis principle of phase mode transformation, then deducethe transformation method for vector circular array and cylindrical array, based this former,discussed the RB-MUSIC and ESPRIT method and compared with the pressure array. Thenstudy the MVDR and MUSIC method for cylindrical array in three situations include pressure,velocity and combination. Finally discussed the performance of the non-space ESSPRITmethod used in vector cylindrical array. For the wideband signal, study the beam formingmethod base on the phase mode transformation for vector circular array and TCT method forvector cylindrical array.3. Processing data: For the actual measurement data in the lake, estimated thedirection-of-arrival used the method discussed above and compared with simulation andtestified the theory results.
