Edge effect is an important theory in the Ecology, it also has certain reference and guidance for urban planning which seek for the goals to improve living environment quality. In this paper, we recognize the ecological edge region and edge village in the rural areas of middle reaches of the Fuchun River, then propose the land use optimization and apply to the Meirong village in Tonglu as case.By adopting RS and GIS methods and concluding the feature of the NDVI index, we find that there is obvious ecological edge effect in region of the Fuchun River among Tonglu and Fuyang. The width between the plain and river is1KM, the width between mountains and plain is1.6KM. Ecological edge effect area is influenced by human construction activities and the natural resource, which is unique in valley area.In order to maintain the ecological edge effect of the Valley area in Fuchun River, for guiding the artificial construction and protection of ecological resources, the land use optimization in the ecological edge area is necessary, to maintain its higher ecological benefit. By summarizing the edge zone characteristics of different types of land units and the relationship between each other, we propose the optimization strategy of land use pattern. Finally, we take Meirong village in Tonglu as a case, propose the land use optimization programs on the basis of the land use situation and problems in Meirong, achieving the combination of theory and practice.
