With the rapid development of the social economy, science technology and urbanization,the city’s increasingly serious traffic problems not be ignored. However, city cloverleafjunction has been greatly eased the situation of the city. In recent years, the construction ofcity cloverleaf junction has been solved a lot of traffic problems, at the same time, it brings anew problem, which is cloverleaf junction waterlogging. Based on the terrain, economicinvestment and other conditions, there are75%city cloverleaf junctions blong to the beneathcloverleaf junction. Because of the special structure of beneath cloverleaf junction, it caneasily formed waterlogging in rainy day, caused traffic jams, and threatened the safety ofvehicles and pedestrians. Thus, solutions were urgently needed to solve the waterlogging ofcity cloverleaf junction, and ensure the drainage unobstructed is the important measures. Thisarticle focused on the rainwater drainage system of city cloverleaf junction, which aimed atproviding some references for the similar engineering design.First of all, the design theory of rainwater drainage system of city cloverleaf junction wasanalyzed. In view of the rainstorm characteristics, which was easily gathered in the low-lyingland, storage tank was used to improve its drainage capacity. In addition, the size of thestorage tank and its collection, and utilization efficiency was analyzed.Secondly, based on the in-depth study of storm water management model (SWMM), thebeneath cloverleaf junction in the western suburbs of Xi’an was selected as the researchobject. In accordance with Xi’an local rainfall characteristics, watershed characteristic,drainage partition, and drainage route of the study area, an rainwater runoff model wasestablished. This model can generalize the rainwater network system of the beneath cloverleafjunction. The drainage system of Xi’an cloverleaf junction was simulated under differentconditions by SWMM. The result shows that the impact of diameter change on the waterdrainage capacity is much greater than the slope change, and the surface slope size has animportant influence on the waterlogging of city cloverleaf junction.Finally, the ability of rain water drainage system in Xi’an is analyzed by storm watermanagement model which sets the storage tank before and after. The simulation results show that: setting the storage tank can solve our city cloverleaf junction waterlogging issue, theoriginal design frequency of20%of the cloverleaf junction storm water system may meet the10%frequency of storm runoff discharge, by setting a1000m3storage tank.
