A Research Of The Land Development Around The Subway Station Tiyu Xilu In Guangzhou From The Perspective Of Smart Growth

As TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) is widely regarded as sustainable citydevelopment theory, Guangzhou begins to put great efforts on rail transportation construction.But, more and more problems emerge while the rail transport construction is growing in fullswing. Problems seem to be especially obvious for the established districts, which priors tothe rail transport construction. In these areas, it is very hard to match the land use to thespecific land utilization pattern of TOD. Besides, TOD theory can only provide a good urbanform, it doesn’t reckon with habits, preferences, culture, and value of people who live in thecity, which makes TOD couldn’t bring its advantages into full play. Therefore, how to greatlylink the rail transportation stations into the land usage around would be a valuable questionthat government and urban designers have to consider. For that, Smart Growth emerges as thetimes require, to provide the decision makers efficient and sustainable solutions.This paper is divided into three parts in total. The first part is theoretical study, includingChapter1and Chapter2, which mainly discusses research object, scope, purpose, meaningand methods, and summarizes study situations of Smart Growth theory at home and abroad,providing scientific basis for the whole paper. The second part is survey and analysis,including Chapter3and Chapter4. At first, this part surveys and analyses the historicaldevelopment of the land use around the Subway Station Tiyu Xilu, which can be regarded asresearch background. And then, based on Smart Growth theory, it focuses on the analysis ofhow historical development pattern as well as related policies and measures affect thecorrelations of current land use and the means of transportation, and figures out the existingproblems, by means of quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis and cases contrast. Thethird part is development suggestions and conclusion, including Chapter5and Conclusion,which systematically summaries existing problems of the Subway Station Tiyu Xilu, makesome improvement suggestions, and presents some things which need to be studied furtherin future as well.This paper aims to put the works into practice of the development of the Subway StationTiyu Xilu, which I hope that it can make some meanings.
